German Ambassador to Bangladesh Dr. Rüdiger Lotz paid a courtesy call on State Minister for Foreign Affairs Humaiun Kobir at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday.
During the meeting, Ambassador Lotz congratulated the State Minister on his recent assumption of office and expressed confidence that Bangladesh-Germany relations would be further strengthened through continued engagement.
State Minister Humaiun Kobir appreciated Germany’s longstanding engagement and development cooperation with Bangladesh. He expressed interest in expanding bilateral cooperation in trade and investment, education, skills development, renewable energy, climate action, culture, and migration and mobility.
The meeting also covered a broad range of bilateral, regional and global issues of mutual interest. The two sides exchanged views on further broadening the Bangladesh-European Union partnership and reaffirmed their commitment to cooperation in relevant international forums.
Ambassador Lotz reaffirmed Germany’s commitment to deepening bilateral cooperation, with particular emphasis on the early conclusion of a Bangladesh-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), enhanced cooperation in the aviation sector, and increased trade, investment and people-to-people exchanges.
The German ambassador also highlighted Bangladesh’s post-election stability and noted growing interest among German companies in the country’s investment-friendly environment.
The meeting was held in a cordial atmosphere, with both sides expressing confidence that continued high-level engagement would provide further momentum to the longstanding Bangladesh-Germany partnership.![]()
