Dhaka, 4 September 2026: Nepal’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Ghanashyam Bhandari, called on Bangladesh’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs, Humaiun Kobir, on Thursday evening, where he received a condolence letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman addressed to Nepal’s Prime Minister Balendra Shah.
In the letter, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman conveyed his deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies to the Government and people of Nepal over the tragic loss of lives and widespread devastation caused by the massive flash floods of 26 August 2026.
To support Nepal’s ongoing relief and humanitarian operations, the Government of Bangladesh has contributed US$1 million (approximately BDT 12.3 crore) through the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund.
Bangladesh also expressed its solidarity at the parliamentary level, as the Jatiya Sangsad adopted a condolence motion on 27 August 2026 in memory of the victims and in support of the people and Government of Nepal.
Ambassador Bhandari thanked the Government of Bangladesh for its generous financial assistance, continued support, and solidarity with Nepal during the difficult period.
