North South University (NSU) signs a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC today, 12th January 2026, at the NSU premises, marking an important milestone in strengthening collaboration between academia and the banking sector. This partnership aims to enhance student career development, industry exposure, and professional skill-building opportunities.
The MoU signing ceremony was graced by Professor Dr. Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, Vice Chancellor of NSU, and Professor Naser U. Ahmed, Pro Vice-Chancellor of NSU. They emphasized the importance of strategic industry partnerships in preparing students for the evolving professional landscape and improving their employability.
The initiative was led by Associate Professor Dr. Farzana Nahid, Director of the Career & Placement Center (CPC), NSU, whose efforts were instrumental in facilitating this collaboration. She highlighted how the MoU would contribute to expanding internships, career seminars, professional training programs, and job opportunities for NSU students.
The ceremony was attended by Commercial Bank of Ceylon PLC representatives, Mr. Najith Meewanage, Chief Executive Officer; Mr. Haily Algewatte, Deputy Chief Executive Officer; Md. Faisal Haque, Head of Personal Banking; Ms. Irin Parvin, Manager of the Human Resources Department; and Md. Jahidul Hasan Kabir, Head of Progati Sharani SME. Their presence reflects the bank’s strong commitment to fostering long-term collaboration with NSU.
