A two-day national dialogue bringing together 75 vice chancellors from public and private universities has concluded in Savar, with policymakers and academic leaders outlining priorities for the future of higher education in Bangladesh.
The conference, titled “Shaping the Future of Higher Education,” was organized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and the World Bank-supported Higher Education Acceleration and Transformation (HEAT) Project at BRAC CDM, Savar.
According to Dr. Abdul Hannan Choudhury, the event was attended by vice chancellors from 75 universities alongside UGC members, making it one of the largest gatherings of university leaders in recent years.
The dialogue featured participation from Education Minister Ehasanul Haque Milon, Finance Minister Amir Khasro Mahmud, Adviser to the HPM Mahdi Amin, National Professor Mahbub Ullah, and Education Secretary Khaleque, who discussed policy reforms, governance, quality enhancement, and the long-term transformation of Bangladesh’s higher education sector.
The organizers said the dialogue aimed to build consensus on a future-ready university system through closer collaboration between government, regulators, and higher education institutions.![]()
