bKash Teams Up with Mastercard to Simplify Cross-Border Remittance
bKash has collaborated with Mastercard to make inward remittance faster, easier and safer for customers across Bangladesh.
Under the collaboration, bKash will use Mastercard Move to enable remittance sent from abroad to be received directly into bKash mobile wallets. Customers will also be able to access cash through bKash’s nationwide network of more than 350,000 agents.
Money sent through banks and authorised money transfer operators connected to Mastercard can now be received in bKash mobile wallets.
Recipients will be able to withdraw cash from nearby bKash agents or use the funds for different services, including utility bill payments, education and government fee payments, money transfers, mobile top-ups and opening bKash savings accounts.
The initiative aims to make international money transfers simpler and more accessible while supporting Bangladesh’s shift towards digital financial services.
Bangladesh is one of the world’s largest recipients of remittances, while mobile financial services are playing an increasingly important role in expanding access to formal financial channels.
With more than 237 million registered mobile financial service accounts, the use of digital channels for remittances continues to grow.
The collaboration also supports Bangladesh Bank’s efforts to promote secure and formal remittance channels while making it easier for families across the country to access money sent from abroad.
