Newly appointed US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent Christensen has laid emphasis on enhancing the relations between Bangladesh and the United States. “I am honored to be confirmed by the United States Senate and deeply grateful to President Trump for the opportunity to serve as the next United States Ambassador to Bangladesh, “This is how Christensen expressed his gratitude on his confirmation as the new ambassador.
Ambassador Christensen also referred to his “over twenty years of experience working on US policy towards Bangladesh” across his Foreign Service career, including a prior tour in Dhaka.
As U.S. Ambassador to Bangladesh, Brent T. Christensen is focusing on strengthening the long-standing bilateral relationship between the two countries.
As the economy is the backbone of a country, economic engagement can be a central pillar of Ambassador Christensen’s mission. Under his leadership,it seems the U.S. Embassy with support initiatives aimed at enhancing Bangladesh’s export competitiveness and integrating the country more deeply into global supply chains.
Ambassador Christensen also placed a strong emphasis on democratic values, human rights, and freedom of expression. He is careful about the role of transparent institutions, free and fair elections, and an independent media in sustaining long-term stability and prosperity.
Brent Christensen is multilingual, speaking Spanish, German, and Vietnamese, with additional studies in French, Japanese, and Portuguese. Before joining the Foreign Service in 2002, he worked as a management consultant in Houston and New York City.
Known for his direct communication style and deep policy knowledge, I believe that Brent T. Christensen will leave a notable imprint on the U.S.–Bangladesh relations. Hope his service reinforced the United States’ commitment to partnering with Bangladesh as it will continue its journey toward sustainable development, regional stability, and greater global engagement.
