Rahat Afroze has been appointed Head of Human Resources at Eastern Bank PLC (EBL), bringing more than 21 years of extensive experience in human resources management and organizational development to the bank.
Throughout her career, she has worked across a broad range of HR functions, including organizational development, talent management, learning and development, employee engagement, employer branding, performance management, and business transformation. Her experience spans both corporate and development-sector organizations, with a focus on strengthening organizational capabilities and building effective people-management strategies.
Before joining EBL, Afroze served as Director—Human Resources, Administration & Safeguarding at Save the Children in Bangladesh. In that role, she was responsible for a wide range of human resources and administrative functions, while also overseeing safeguarding-related matters within the organization.
Prior to her tenure at Save the Children, she served as Head of Organizational Development at Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited. Her responsibilities there included organizational development initiatives and people-focused strategies aimed at supporting business growth and improving organizational effectiveness.
Afroze has built her academic foundation in both business and liberal arts. She holds an MBA in Marketing from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka, and a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Dhaka.
With her extensive experience in HR leadership, organizational transformation, talent development, and employee engagement, Afroze is expected to contribute to EBL’s people strategy and organizational development as the bank continues to strengthen its human capital and business capabilities.
