Dhaka Bank PLC Signs Credit Guarantee Agreement with PKSF to Boost SME Financing
Dhaka Bank PLC has signed a Credit Guarantee Agreement with Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) under the Credit Enhancement Scheme (CES), supported by the Asian Development Bank (ADB), to enhance financial inclusion and improve access to finance for marginal, cottage, and micro enterprises across Bangladesh.
The initiative aims to strengthen the country’s SME ecosystem by enabling greater access to formal financing for underserved entrepreneurs, particularly in rural areas. Under the scheme, participating banks and financial institutions (FIs) will collectively provide up to BDT 2,800 crore in guaranteed loans to PKSF’s Partner Organizations (POs) and Microfinance Institutions (MFIs) during the 2026–27 fiscal year.
As part of the arrangement, PKSF will offer credit guarantee services to participating banks and FIs, reducing lending risks and facilitating increased financing to POs and MFIs. These institutions will, in turn, extend credit to micro-entrepreneurs nationwide, helping expand economic opportunities and promote inclusive growth.
The agreement was signed on 20 July 2026 at PKSF Bhaban-1 by Md. Hasan Khaled, Deputy Managing Director of PKSF, and Md. Mostaque Ahmed, Deputy Managing Director of Dhaka Bank PLC.
The signing ceremony was attended by Md. Fazlul Kader, Managing Director of PKSF; Md. Mashiar Rahman, Deputy Managing Director of PKSF; Dr. Akond Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, Deputy Managing Director of PKSF; Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman Palash, Head of MSME & Emerging Business Division at Dhaka Bank PLC; along with senior officials from PKSF, Dhaka Bank PLC, and 11 other participating banks and financial institutions.
